Third Place Finish – Stanford Cardinal

Stanford

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Stanford made a strong final round push in Wednesday’s action at The Prestige, shooting 10-under in it’s final trip around the Greg Norman Course at PGA West to finish third at the event. The Cardinal finished the tournament with a 17-under 835.

Another stellar performance from Karl Vilips gave him his best finish of his career, shooting a 5-under 66 to land tied for second on the individual leaderboard. The senior played a bogey-free round of golf, knocking down five birdies to match his second round performance from a day ago.

Fellow senior Jake-Beber Frankel had his best round of the tournament at 4-under with a team-leading six birdies on the round to finish tied for 15th. Michael Thorbjornsen gave Stanford it’s third top-20 finisher of the tournament, but a six-birdie round was hampered by two double bogeys as the Wellesley, Mass., native finished at 2-under.

Kush Arora and Barclay Brown each finished the day at 1-over on the afternoon to wrap up their tournaments. On the individual side, Ethan Gao led the Stanford contingent with a final round 3-under 69. Dean Greyserman struggled with a 5-over 77 but still came home with a top-20 finish on the tournament. Sean-Karl Dobson shot even par while Anton Ouyang finished with a third-round 75 to round out competition on the day.

Stanford returns two action in two weeks, as it looks to ride the momentum into Mexico for the Cabo Collegiate on March 3-5.
