MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men’s golf is headed back down south to Georgia to participate in the Inaugural Invitational at the Ford at the Ford Field & River Club. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes between Monday, February 26, and Tuesday, February 27.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers last competed in the Puerto Rico Classic where they finished 12-under par to place 13th. The team shot a 281-283-288=852 and was led by senior Coalter Smith, who finished tied for 16th at nine-under par for a career-low 54-hole score of 207. Georgia earned top honors among the 15-team field as they carded a 42-under par. Read more about the Puerto Rico Classic here.
2. The Course: Designed by World Golf Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye, The Ford Field & River Club in Richmond Hill, Georgia, will be played as a par 72 and at 7,409 yards. A course naturally shaped by coastline, meadows and freshwater lakes, The Ford Field & River Club course has been highlighted by national publications like Golf Week, Golf Digest and LINKS Magazine.
3. The Tournament: Play on both Monday and Tuesday will begin at 6:45 a.m. CT on hole one, with 36 continuous holes being played on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Fifty-four golfers from eight schools will compete in the two-day tournament.
4. The Field: The Invitational at the Ford will feature Georgia Southern, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Utah, Wake Forest and Wisconsin. Representing the Badgers is Cameron Huss, Jacob Beckman, Coalter Smith, Blake Wisdom and Spencer Turtz. Graham Moody will join Wisconsin as an individual competitor.
