Lundin Remains in First Place at Las Vegas


Senior Jack Lundin continued his strong play at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas on Monday, remaining in first of 84 golfers through 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament.

Lundin carded a two-under 70 during the second round of action and at -8 (66-70), he owns a two-stroke lead over second place and a four-shot advantage over three golfers in third place entering the final day of play. Lundin added five birdies on the day, including one on his final hole, for the two-shot advantage.

As a team, Mizzou moved up three spots as the Tigers sit ninth of 15 schools in a field that features eight top-25 teams nationally and 12 in the top 50. The Tigers tallied a six-over 294 during round two amidst tough conditions as MU carded the second-best round of the day. Overall, Mizzou is +8 through two rounds and is just two strokes off sixth place in the competitive field.

Junior Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson was the team’s top riser on Monday, carding a one-over 73 to move from 80th to 57th on the day at seven over (78-73). Sigurbrandsson finished three-under over his final six holes, including an eagle three on the ninth, for the second-best round on the day by a Tiger.

Alfons Bondesson (74) and Charlie Crockett (77) completed the scoring on the day for the Tigers.

The final day of action is set for Tuesday morning with an 11 a.m. CT tee time.
