Stanford

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Senior Michael Thorbjornsen claimed his third career tournament win at the Cabo Collegiate, firing a third-round 69 on Tuesday afternoon to cap off a 10-under tournament. Stanford finished the tournament 11-over par to place T-8th in the team standings.

Thorbjornsen knocked down five birdies and three bogeys for his third sub-70 round of the tournament, including back-to-back birdies on the par-4 18th and par-5 1st holes to hold off a late charge from Ole Miss’ Michael La Sasso. With the victory, Thorbjornsen also earned an exemption for the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship, which will take place on November 8-10.

Karl Vilips suffered a rocky third-round performance of 5-over 76, as an eagle and four birdies from the Australian we’re diminished by three bogeys, two double bogeys and a quadruple bogey on his scorecard. Tuesday’s effort snaps a ten-round under par streak for Vilips, as the senior finished the tournament tied for 17th.

Sean-Karl Dobson shot his best round of the tournament with a 2-over 73 with five birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey to finish tied for 68th on the tournament alongside teammate Barclay Brown, who turned in a 5-over 76 in Tuesday’s round.

Jake Beber-Frankel finished 7-over on the afternoon as Stanford’s non-scoring third round, as the senior finished the tournament tied for 61st at 12-over par.

Stanford welcomes Harvard to The Farm for a head-to-head matchup on March 15 before it hosts The Goodwin at TPC Harding Pack on March 28-30.
