Wongthanavimok Becomes Third Wildcat to Be Named Pac-12 Golfer of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz. – Following a co-medalist finish and helping No. 17 Arizona Women’s Golf win the Gators Invitational, sophomore Nena Wongthanavimok has been named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Week. Wongthanavimok picked up her first collegiate win after carding rounds of 69, 69 and 66 to finish the event at 6-under par with her final round setting a new career low.

The Bangkok, Thailand native was also the only golfer in the 78-player field to shoot below 70 in all three rounds of the tournament as she broke her career tournament scoring record with 204 strokes over the weekend. Wongthanvimok also became the first Wildcat to win an individual title since 2020.

She helped the Wildcats win the Gators Invitational by 16 strokes, which was the program’s largest margin of victory in a tournament since winning the 2020 Wildcat Invitational by 22 strokes. Arizona has now won at least one tournament as a team in 13 of its last 15 seasons.

Wongthanavimok is the third Wildcat to win Pac-12 Golfer of the Week in 2024, following earlier recipients Gile Bite Starkute and Charlotte Back. She and the rest of the Arizona Women’s Golf program will return to action in three weeks at the ASU/PING Invitational at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix.
