MILLBRAE, Calif. (March 12, 2024) – Washington State women’s golf wrapped up its final round at the Silicon Valley Showcase with a team score of 34-over, 318 to finish in eighth place at 76-over, 928 at the par-71 Green Hills Country Club.
Junior Madelyn Gamble ended strong at the top finisher for the Cougs in 13th with a final-round score of 4-over, 75. She birdied her first hole, before scattering two more birdies and eight pars the rest of the way to come in at 11-over, 224.
Freshman Alice Johansson was the next finisher for WSU, coming in 18th with a three-round score of 16-over, 229. She had a tough time on the back nine in her final round, recording a 9-over, but was only 1-over with a birdie and six pars on the front nine to finish round three at 10-over, 81.
Junior Emily Cadwell wrapped things up in a tie for 39th at 26-over, 239. She parred her first hole of the day, but couldn’t find consistency as she used a birdie, eight pars, five bogeys and four double-bogeys to shoot a 12-over, 83 on the final day.
Sophomore Hannah Harrison finished the tournament at 29-over, 242, placing tied for 46th. Despite shooting for par on seven holes, she also had a difficult day on the back nine with a stretch of seven-straight bogeys to come in at 14-over, 85 in round three.
Junior Sarah Skovgaard-Bils was the final golfer in the scoring group, finishing 50th at 33-over, 246. She parred six of her first 10 holes of the day to sit just 4-over with eight holes to go. Skovgaard-Bils recorded a pair of birdies the rest of the way to go 8-over, 79 in the final round.
Freshman Sara Piñeros played as an individual, and placed 53rd at 35-over, 248. She parred her first hole for the second day in a row, and then birdied her fifth hole for a strong start at 2-over, five holes in. She would go on to finish the round at 12-over, 83.
The Cougars have two more tournaments before the Pac-12 Championships, next heading to the Fresno State Invitational on March 25-26 at the Copper River Golf Club in Fresno, Calif.
