PGA Golfers
The Gators had five former golfers compete on the PGA Tour once for the second week in a row. Fred Biondi (T-32), Chris Nido (T-49), Camilo Villegas (Cut), Alejandro Tosti (Cut) and Yuxin Lin (Cut) all competed at the Grand Reserve Golf Club this weekend.
Biondi was the best of the bunch shooting under par all four days (70;68;70;69).
Nido Made his 2024 PGA Tour debut this weekend shooting nine under to slide into a Top-50 finish.
Korn Ferry Tour Golfers
Ricky Castillo (T-5) and T.J .Vogel (T-11) shined in Chile as the duo finished 15 under and 13 under respectively.
Castillo started off the weekend hot, ending Friday with an Eagle on 18 to move to T-9. The first-year pro continued his hot streak into the weekend firing off two consecutive rounds under par to secure his first top five finish of the season. Castillo shot a field low four bogeys during the tournament. Castillo has 374 points in the Korn Ferry points list sitting at 11th.

Vogel’s best round came on day four when the 10 year pro shot an eight under 64. Vogel’s nine birdies in Sunday ranked first among the field. Vogel’s strong day four has been a consistent part of his game this season. The former Gator boasts a final round average score of 67.50 (good for 11th best) which is 2.86 strokes better than the tour average.
Champions Tour Golfers
Three Gator Greats hit the links for the Cologuard Classic: Brian Gay (T-7), Chris DiMarco (T-36) and Mark Calcavecchia (T-61).
Gay continued his dominance on the tour, finishing Top-10 for the third straight tournament. The 30 year pro sits at ninth in putting averaged and carried that into this weekend, sinking this eagle putt on the 11th hole.
What’s Next
The PGA Tour will be close to home this weekend, when Tyson Alexander, Billy Horschel and Camillo Villegas travel to TPC Sawgrass looking to win golf’s “fifth major”.
The Korn Ferry Tour is off for the next month. Look for former Gators to suit up April 4 in the Club Car Championship in Savannah Ga.
The Tour Champion will return to action on March 22. for the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach…
