SUNSET, S.C. — Vanderbilt women’s golf carries a five-stroke lead into Sunday’s final round of the Clemson Invitational following a 7-under 281 on Saturday. The Commodores combined for another day-leading round, taking a 15-under-par total into the final round.
“The girls did a great job of coming out and putting their foot on the gas,” said head coach Greg Allen. “It was really a team effort as all five girls were under or near par most of the day.”
Sophomore Lynn Lim led the way for the Dores again, carding four birdies and an eagle on the par-five 11th to end the round with a 2-under 70. Lim is currently tied for fourth place individually and is second in par-3 and par-5 average scoring this weekend.
Freshman Ava Merrill, sitting tied for seventh place overall, also notched a 2-under-par 70 on Saturday. She knocked in three birdies on the way to her 12th under-par round of her career. Senior Virginie Ding was the third Commodore to finish Saturday’s round at 2-under thanks to three birdies on the back nine. She is currently tied for 32nd overall.
“I’m proud of how Ding came back today after struggling a bit yesterday,” said Allen.
Graduate student Celina Sattelkau is tied for 27th individually after a 1-under 71 second round. Sophomore Tillie Claggett rounded out the Vanderbilt lineup with a 1-over-par 73. Individual Macie Brown shot an 80.
“We know the job’s not finished yet, and we know there’s several teams that will come out firing tomorrow, including the home team,” said Allen.
Vanderbilt heads into Sunday’s final round at The Reserve at Lake Keowee with a five-stroke lead over host Clemson. The Dores take a first-place lead into the final round of a tournament for the first time since the 2022 Ron Moore Intercollegiate, an event the team won by 20 strokes. Vandy has improved its team leaderboard standing in every event this season on the final day.
“We need to stay committed to the process of hitting good golf shots and playing our game,” added Allen.
Vanderbilt tees off with Clemson, Texas A&M, and Ohio State at 8:30 a.m. CT for Sunday’s final round. Live scoring for the event can be found on Golfstat.
