East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s men’s golf team will be one of 11 teams to tee off on Monday morning in the inaugural Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational, being played at Silverado Country Club in Napa, Calif.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is part of the PGA Tour’s Pathway to Progression in collaboration with the Golf Coaches Association of America and co-host, Central Michigan University.
The event features top-level NCAA Division I men’s golf programs and historically Black colleges and universities in addition to four high-ranking individual golfers from underrepresented communities. The Spartans are part of a field that will also feature three HBCU men’s golf teams, with the individual winner earning an exemption into a 2024 Korn Ferry Tour event to be announced at a later date.

The Spartans are coming off their second-straight top-five team finish after placing third among 14 teams at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island on March 5. MSU posted an 8-under par 280 in the final round and finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 21-under par 843 (284-276-280), just one shot behind second-place Texas. Junior Ashton McCulloch was named the Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week after tying for first place at 12-under par 204 (68-62-74). McCulloch set a Michigan State program record by firing a 10-under par 62 in the second round.
