Seahawk Intercollegiate Final Results
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Penn State men’s golf team surged up the leaderboard with a strong final day Monday at the Seahawk Intercollegiate. Jimmy Meyers turned in a top-10 finish to lead the Nittany Lions at the Country Club of Landfall’s Nicklaus Course.
Penn State finished tied for seventh in the loaded 16-team tournament field that featured seven teams that rank in the top 100 of the GolfStat national rankings. The Nittany Lions finished the second round at 11-over, 299, a 10-stroke improvement from their first-round score. Penn State then turned in its best round of the event with a 4-over, 292, in the third and final round to finish tied for seventh at 36-over, 900.
Jimmy Meyers led the way for the Nittany Lions, finishing tied for 10th at 3-over, 219. He finished the second round Monday at 1-over, 73, before shooting a 2-under, 70, in the third and final round. Meyers collects his second top-10 finish of the 2023-24 season.
Zach Smith shot a pair of 1-over, 73’s, in the second and third rounds to finish tied for 39th at 11-over, 227. Patrick Sheehan followed closely behind at 12-over, 228, to place tied for 45th.
Jake Griffin placed tied for 51st at 14-over, 230, while Billy Pabst Jr. carded a 17-over, 233, to finish tied for 68th.
Penn State returns to action on April 13-14 when the Nittany Lions host the Rutherford Intercollegiate at the Penn State Blue Course.
