Men's Golf Has Another Solid Performance Heading to Thunderbird April 12-13


The Sun Devil men’s golf team finished third at the Valspar Collegiate on Tuesday, getting solid tournaments from freshmen Wenyi Ding and Connor Williams along with a great individual finish from Ryggs Johnston.

ASU led the field on the par-3 holes, shooting 3-over through the tournament. The team also had the second most birdies (58).

Wenyi Ding finished the tournament with 17 birdies, the second most of any competitor, while Preston Summerhays finished the tournament with 39 pars, second most of any competitor. 

Graduate Ryggs Johnston had an impressive third round, shooting a 5-under 66. His six birdies helped tie him for sixth place individually. Ding was also in individual title contention, with a 3-under 68 that was only six off the leader. 

UP NEXT

The team will return from Florida and have a short break before they play at home in the Thunderbird Collegiate. The tournament is set for April 12-13 in Phoenix at Papago Golf Club.
