Cal’s First Action Since Canceled Final Round At Juli Inkster
PHOENIX – The No. 27 California women’s golf team returns to action this Thursday through Saturday for the first time since competing at the Juli Inkster Invitational in early March, when it had its leaderboard-climbing final round canceled due to heavy rain conditions.
The Golden Bears will be competing with a talent-packed 17-team field at the PING/ASU Invitational that includes eight programs boasting top-15 national rankings. Cal sophomore Olivia Lee is set to tee off first for the Bears on the par 72, 6,570-yard Papago Golf Course at 9:39 a.m. PT.
The rest of the Bear lineup includes seniors Cristina Ochoa and Rina Tatematsu, sophomore Adora Liu and freshman Constance Fouillet. All four will look to pick up where they left off in the final round of the Juli Inkster, which saw them put together one of the tournament’s best rounds to move the Bears up five spots prior to its cancelation.
Cal finished in 11th place in last year’s PING/ASU Invitational, led by Ochoa who carded a 2-over-par 72 to earn her third top-15 finish of the season to that point. Ochoa (73.4) is the team’s fourth-lowest scorer on the year, trailing Liu (72.2), Tatematsu (72.8) and Fouillet (72.9).
