Bailey Shoemaker Finishes Second at the Augusta National Women's Amateur

Women’s Golf | April 06, 2024

AUGUSTA, Georgia – USC women’s golf freshman Bailey Shoemaker posted the lowest final round in Augusta National Women’s Amateur history (66), finishing second at the fifth annual ANWA title on Saturday, Apr. 6, at the prestigious Augusta National Golf Course.

Shoemaker fell only one shot short of the title as sophomore from Florida State Lottie Woad birdied back-to-back on holes No. 17 & 18 to win it at eight-under-par. Shoemaker made a historic run, with a bogey-free round, as she was six-under-par for the day and finished the tournament seven-under-par. This is her best finish at the event in her third appearance.

While the freshman had the best finish on the day for the Women of Troy, she was not the lone player that made the final round. USC went four-for-four in getting players past the cut, as Shoemaker, junior Amari Avery, sophomore Catherine Park, and incoming freshman Jasmine Koo all made it. Before today, Koo was the co-leader on the leaderboard (with Shoemaker), as she entered the day tied for fifth at one-under-par. Koo ended up fourth after the final day, at three-under-par.

Avery and Park both made it within the top 30. Avery wrapped up the event in a tie for 26th at six-over-par, and Park was tied for 30th at nine-over-par.

The Trojans return to action as a squad at the Silverado Showdown starting Monday, Apr. 8, in Napa, Calif., at the Silverado Golf Course.
