Duke Set For Stitch Intercollegiate

RALEIGH – The Duke men’s golf team wraps up regular-season action on Friday and Saturday, participating in the Stitch Intercollegiate. Hosted by NC State at Lonnie Poole Golf Club, the Blue Devils aim to defend their back-to-back team titles in the event, including a 19-shot victory in the two-round, rain-shortened, event last season.

The 12-team field consists of Duke, NC State, Boston College, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, High Point, Kent State, Navy, North Carolina Central, Oral Roberts, UNCG and VCU. The Blue Devils, ranked 24th in the latest rankings from Scoreboard by Clippd, are one of three top-50 teams in the field, joined by No. 38 VCU and No. 45 UNCG.

The Blue Devils will have all 10 players in the field, starting a lineup of Luke Sample, Ethan Evans, Jimmy Zheng, Bryan Kim and William Love while Ian Siebers, Kelly Chinn, Daniel Choi, John Peters and Daniel Uranga compete individually.

The first two rounds are held on Friday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., followed by continuous play for the second round. The Blue Devils’ lineup begins their day on No. 17, 18 and 1, playing alongside NC State and UNCG, while Duke’s individuals start on holes No. 2, 3, 4 and 5. The final 18 holes of action on Saturday will start with groups going off of holes No. 1 and 10.

Lonnie Poole Golf Course is a par-71 course and will play to a distance of 7,209 yards for this year’s iteration of the event.

In last year’s tournament, Love fired a 9-under, 62, in the second round, setting a Duke freshman record for lowest total score in a round and matching the Blue Devils’ freshman record for score-to-par. As a team, Duke led the 2023 tournament field in par-3 and par-4 scoring, going 2-under and 2-over on those holes, respectively.

Live scoring for the tournament is available on Golfstat.
