Playing on a sponsor exemption, Stanford made her 98th consecutive major start this week in her native Texas. Though she started off nicely on Thursday, she lost momentum on the back nine and never really got it back, missing the cut by one. An eagle on the par-5 13th on Friday, however, was a highlight.
Stanford heads to U.S. Women’s Open qualifying next week to try to play her way into No. 99. Only Jack Nicklaus has played in 100 consecutive majors.
