CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – After playing five playoff holes, Wake Forest senior Michael Brennan and Florida State senior Frederik Kjettrup were declared co-medalists at the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Charlotte Country Club.
Brennan, who fired a final-round 2-under 69 and finished 7-under for the Championship, becomes the first back-to-back individual champion since Louisville’s Robin Sciot-Siegrist won titles in 2015 and 2016. Kjettrup is the first Seminole to win medalist honors since John Pak in 2019.
After paring hole No. 18 five times, Brennan and Kjettrup were declared co-champions.
North Carolina’s Austin Greaser and Georgia Tech’s Christo Lamprecht tied for third at 6-under for the tournament.
Facing rainy conditions throughout the day, North Carolina captured the No. 1 seed in Monday’s matchup semifinals. The Tar Heels finished at 6-over (290) on the afternoon to finish with a 10-under 842 for stroke play. It marks the third time in the last four seasons UNC has earned the No. 1 seed in match play.
Behind the Tar Heels was a three-way tie for second place. Using the cumulative total of non-counting scores, Florida State will be the No. 2 seed and will meet No. 3 seed Georgia Tech in the semifinals. Wake Forest earned the No. 4 seed and will meet top-seeded UNC in Monday’s semifinals. The Demon Deacons improved their second-round score by seven shots and beat out Virginia for the final spot in match play by three shots.
