PULLMAN, Wash. (April 22, 2024) – Washington State women’s golf sits in sixth place after day two of the 2024 Women’s Golf Pac-12 Championships, at 7-over, 583 at the par-72 Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
“Another solid day for the Cougs today with a team score under par” said Head Coach Sofie Aagard. “Emily had a great recovery after a slow start and finished with a steady score of one over par. Madelyn, Sarah and Alice under-par rounds are great but still with room for more putts to drop. There sure is something to playing at home. Not only home-course advantage, knowing the course, but also the comfort of staying at home, in your own bed, and have supportive people around you when competing. We are grateful for everyone who volunteers and comes out to cheer us on.”
The team finished the second round with a 2-under score of 286 behind three under-par performances. Stanford leads the pack at 16-under, 560, and after a 10-over round one, USC shots an impressive 20-under in round two to jump up to second with a two-round score of 10-under, 566.
Junior Madelyn Gamble finished round two at 1-over, 71 and is in a tie for third place with a two-round score of 3-under, 141. Her strong play carried into day two, and after and even front nine, she birdied holes 10 and 14 before one more bogey put her at 1-under for the day.
Junior Sarah Skovgaard-Bils had a 1-under, 71 showing in round two to bring her two-round score to 1-over, 145 and put her tied for 21st. She birdied holes two and seven on the front end and was 1-under at the turn. Two birdies and a pair of bogeys down the stretch kept her at 1-under for the round.
Sophomore Hannah Harrison sits at 7-over, 151 in a tie for 38th after a 4-over, 76 score in round two. After a bogey on hole one, she rattled off four pars before registering a birdie on six and taking an even round into the turn. She put together five more parred holes, but ended her day on four straight bogeys to put her 4-over in round two.
Junior Emily Cadwell had a strong back nine to end the day at 1-over, 73, and also sits tied for 38th with a 7-over, 151 two-round score. She recorded a birdie on hole five in between four bogeys to make the turn at 3-over. But on the back end she rattled off birdies on holes 12, 15 and 16 to get her round-two score down to 1-over.
