CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Senior Isabel Sy is one of 36 individuals headed to the NCAA Regionals as announced today, April 24, live on Golf Channel. Sy will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to compete at Forest Akers Golf Course from May 6-8.
Sy is coming off of a tied-for-seventh finish at the Big Ten Championships, her second-straight top-10 finish at the conference championships. The San Gabriel, Calif., native, earned co-individual medalist honors two times this season, in back-to-back fashion, at The Chevron Collegiate and the Briar’s Creek Invitational, the first two times in her career that she has captured medalist honors.
Sy also had a run of six-straight top-four finishes during the 2023-24 campaign, which was the longest such streak in program history since her head coach, Renee Slone, had a run of seven-straight such finishes during the 1992-93 season.
Six regional tournaments will be conducted May 6-8 to determine the Championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA Championships competition and all national championships policies apply.
A total of 72 teams and 36 individual participants have been selected for regional competition. Of the 396 players participating in the regionals, 156 will advance to the championship finals, with the top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) advancing from each regional.
The NCAA Women’s Golf National Championships will be May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., and hosted by the University of Texas.
