Virginia Tech earns fifth NCAA regional bid in program history


BLACKSBURG — For the fifth time in program history, the Virginia Tech women’s golf team has earned an NCAA regional bid, as announced via a selection show on the Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon. The Hokies, who reaped an at-large berth, will be the No. 8 seed in the Cle Elum Regional, which will be contested May 6-8.
 
Wednesday’s selection marks the fifth NCAA regional appearance in the program’s nine years of competition.

The Hokies will be one of 12 teams competing in the Cle Elum Regional at Tumble Creek Club in Cle Elum, Washington. The top five teams (30 teams total) and top individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to the 2024 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, to be held May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
 
Tech will be joined in the Cle Elum field by fellow ACC members Duke, the No. 2 seed at the site, and Virginia, the No. 4 seed. Top-ranked Stanford is the No. 1 seed. Eight ACC teams advanced to the NCAA regional round.
  
The Cle Elum Regional will consist of 54 holes of stroke play, 18 holes each day. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament via Golfstat.
