Lewis Inside Top Five Individually at SEC Championships as #7 Vols Enter Final Stroke Play Round in Fifth

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Redshirt senior golfer Bryce Lewis is tied for third following two rounds at the SEC Championships as the seventh-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team holds steady in fifth place ahead of the final round.  

Lewis ascended 15 spots up the leaderboard on moving day following a 4-under 66 and enters the final stroke play round 5-under overall and three shots back of the leader.

Lewis hit a clutch shot out of the bunker on hole 15 to make an eagle and also registered four birdies en route to his second-round score.

Tennessee shot 6-under as a team on day two and enters the final round of stroke play at 9-under overall.

After a tough start in round one, Lance Simpson bounced back nicely on Thursday and shot a 2-under 68 to give UT its second-best score in round two. The redshirt sophomore shot 2-under on his first nine holes of the day and even-par following the turn.

Simpson enters the final stroke play round at 3-over and tied for 48th place.

Redshirt senior Jake Hall and redshirt freshman Bruce Murphy provided the Vols with their final counting scores on Thursday after shooting a pair of even-par 70s. The duo sits tied for 20th at 1-under overall heading into Friday’s final round of stroke play.

Evan Woosley-Reed shot a 75 in the second round and enters round three tied for 52nd.
