CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Former Fighting Illini men’s golf greats Steve Stricker and Adrien Dumont de Chassart – who between them won five Big Ten Golfer of the Year honors during their time at Illinois – are set to represent the Orange and Blue in professional events slated for this week.
PGA TOUR
Dumont de Chassart is coming off a T30 finish last weekend at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson Classic in which he shot 67-67-69-67 for a 14-under 270. He is set to tee off this week at the Myrtle Beach Classic at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in South Carolina.
Dumont de Chassart’s finish at the Byron Nelson was his sixth made cut in his rookie campaign and moved him up to No. 181 in the Official World Golf Rankings, the best position of his young career.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS
Stricker returns to the PGA TOUR Champions for the first time in more than a month with his sights set on winning his third consecutive title at the Regions Tradition at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.
In fact three of Stricker’s 17-career PGA Tour Champions victories have come at the Regions Tradition where he paced the field in 2019 before going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, and he nearly made in four straight with a runner-up finish via playoff in 2021.
LIV GOLF LEAGUE
Thomas Pieters is coming off of a T5 showing last weekend at the LIV Golf Singapore event. It marked the best individual finish in Pieters’ two seasons with RangeGoats GC.
