AUBURN, Ala. – The University of Miami golf team’s 2023-24 season came to an end on Wednesday when the Hurricanes placed eighth at the Auburn Regional of the NCAA Championship in Auburn, Ala.
Senior Sara Byrne recorded her eighth top-10 finish of the season, carding a one-over-par score of 217 to place tied for seventh among all golfers.
Byrne shot par-or-better in two of the three rounds, highlighted by a 71 on day two of the regional. In her final nine holes of collegiate golf, the Ireland native shot two-under-par to clinch the top-10 finish.
As a team, Miami totaled a 54-hole score of 915 (+51) on the par-72, 6,552-yard course at Auburn University Club. The Hurricanes were up against 11 other teams, all vying for a top-five finish to advance to the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif.
Auburn, the regional host, finished first overall with a score of 874 (+10), while Oregon and North Carolina placed second (878; +14) and third (885; +21), respectively. Top-seeded South Caro and Tulsa also earned spots in the NCAA Championship after finishing tied for fourth with a score of 891 (+27).
Minnesota’s Isabella McCauley will move on as the individual representative from the Auburn Regional after shooting a 214 (-2) across 54 holes.
Freshman Barbora Bujáková finished the regional shooting 225 (+9) to secure a top-25 finish.
Fellow freshman Rebekah Gardner placed 49th among all golfers with a 54-hole score of 237 (+21), while sophomore Olivia Grønborg carded a 239 (+23) to finish in 52nd.
Freshman Aada Rissanen closed out competition for the Hurricanes with a score 247 (+31), good for 55th among the field.
