Virginia Athletics | Sambach Named to Final Watch List ANNIKA Award

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia junior golfer Amanda Sambach (Pinehurst, N.C.) is one of 10 players named to the final watch list for the 2024 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel the Haskins Foundation announced today (May 10). The Annika Award is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding female collegiate golfer.

Sambach is ranked seventh in the current NCAA golf standings and is coming off a runner-up finish at the ACC Championships and a third-place showing at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional.

Sambach leads the Cavaliers with a 71.17 stroke average. She has posted top-10 finishes in seven of 10 tournaments this year. Sambach won Toledo’s Glass City Invitational and has been a runner-up at the Stanford Intercollegiate and the San Diego State Classic. She has been selected to play for the U.S. team at this summer’s Arnold Palmer Cup for the second consecutive year.

Sambach will compete with the Cavaliers at the NCAA Championships set for May 17-22 in Carlsbad, Calif.

Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer.

The 2024 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel will be announced Tuesday, May 21st on Golf Channel. The 2024 ANNIKA Award winner will also be awarded an exemption into the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship.
