Vanderbilt Women's Golf | NCAA Championships Tee Off Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s golf tees off in the 2024 NCAA Championships on Friday at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The Dores are one of 30 teams vying for the national title on the 6,330-yard, par-72 North Course.

“It’s a really nice feeling to be playing golf this late in May,” said head coach Greg Allen. “We’re super pumped to have the opportunity to compete this week and excited about the championship moving to La Costa. It’s been completely renovated and no one has played it, so it’s a completely neutral site for everyone.”

The Commodores are the No. 18 seed and will open their title hunt at 6:40 a.m. PT/8:40 a.m. CT on Friday from the 10th hole. Vanderbilt will then play in the afternoon flight on Saturday, teeing off at noon PT/2 p.m. CT.

Following the first three rounds of competition, the field will be cut to 15 teams for Monday’s fourth round. The top eight will then advance to match play beginning Tuesday.

The Dores will feature the same lineup from regionals with senior Virginie Ding leading the squad. Ding finished tied for third at the Bryan Regional with her 7-under performance. Sophomores Tillie Claggett and Lynn Lim will join Ding along with freshman Ava Merrill and graduate Celina Sattelkau. Sattelkau produced her best round of the season in the final day of the Bryan Regional, carding a 4-under 68 to help the Dores advance to Carlsbad.

“Our focus will be getting off to a good start the first couple day and giving ourselves the best possible chance to make the cut and fight for a chance to make match play,” Allen said. “We do that by staying committed to the process and playing with a lot of heart and toughness – very similar to how we played the final round of regionals.”

Vanderbilt is making its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships and its 13th overall. The Commodores finished 27th a year ago and 22nd in 2022. Vandy’s best NCAA finish came in 2004 when the Dores came home fifth.

The 2024 NCAA Championships will be televised on Golf Channel beginning with Monday’s fourth round. All three rounds of match play will also be carried live on the network. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.
