Amari Avery and Catherine Park Earn WGCA All-American Honors

LOS ANGELES. – USC women’s golf secured two spots on the 2024 WGCA All-American List with sophomore Catherine Park being named to the First Team and junior Amari Avery being named to the Honorable Mention List; the WGCA announced on Friday, May 24. 

It is the second All-American honor for Park, who was an honorable mention selection in 2023 as a freshman. This is Averys third honor, as she was on the first team in 2022 and was on the honorable mention list last season. 

The duo helped push the Women of Troy to their second-straight top four finish in the NCAA Championships. This season USC bested No. 5 seeded Clemson in match play and fell to the eventual National Champion, Stanford in the semifinals. 

Avery and Park’s honors give USC 38 individual All-Americans totaling 78 All-American honors.

Park was on a tear this season, leading the Women of Troy in almost all categories: stroke average (70.94), top-ten finishes (seven), wins (three) and rounds in the 60s (nine). Park posted 23 rounds of par or better this season,

which is a new program record. The sophomore also produced the best stroke average in program history breaking the previous record set by Annie Park (2013) at 71.36.

Park picked up three wins this season with the Stanford Intercollegiate, Silverado Showdown and the Pac-12 Championship. The sophomore became just the seventh Trojan to earn the individual conference title and is the first to do it since 2013 (Annie Park). 

As one of the most successful collegiate golfers this season, Park joined five other golfers as one of the finalists for the ANNIKA Award. 

Both Park and Avery were named to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team after the Pac-12 Championships ended. 

Avery joins Park on the list, after she posted the third-best finish for the Women of Troy at the NCAA Championships. The junior was tied for 19^th as she hovered around par for most of the tournament. Avery ended up four-over par, but it was her time in match play, that was majorly impactful. Avery won both of her matchups in match play, as she bested Clemson’s Holder 6&5 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals against Stanford Avery was the lone player to take home a win as she won 2&1 at the No. 1 spot against the Cardinal’s Heck.
