IOWA CITY, Iowa – Loyola (Illinois) transfer Adie Maki will join the University of Iowa women’s golf program this fall, it was announced Friday by head coach Megan Menzel. Maki will have two years of eligibility with the Hawkeyes.
During her two seasons with the Ramblers, Maki posted a 77.30 scoring average over 56 career rounds. She had four top 10 finishes in her two seasons.
“We are excited to have Adie join our team this fall,” said Menzel. “She brings a tremendous work ethic and a desire to compete at the highest level.”
As a sophomore, Maki had a 75.59 scoring average over 29 rounds, including seven rounds at or below par. She tallied three top 10 and six top 20 finishes during the year, including tying for fifth at the Brittany Kelly Classic with a 219 (76-69-74). She also was eighth at the Butler Fall Invitational with a 218 (72-74-72) and tied for 10th at the Dayton Flyer Invitational with a 221 (75-71-75).
The Canton, Michigan, native improved her scoring average by 3.5 strokes from her freshman to sophomore year. She had a 79.15 mark over 27 rounds as a freshman with a 10th place showing at the Parkinson Invitational.
As a prep, Maki qualified for the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. She was also a four-year varsity player at Skyline High School, where she holds school records for lowest individual round (68) and career scoring average (73.3).
Maki was a three-time qualifier for the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Championship, earning top-five finishes at the state meet as a junior (t2nd) and senior (t4th). Along with earning two all-state honors (and an honorable mention nod as a freshman), Maki was a four-time All-South Eastern Conference (SEC) selection.
She was a two-time SEC individual medalist and she advanced to the sweet 16 in the 2021 Michigan Women’s Amateur. Off the course, Maki was a SEC All-Scholar Award honoree as a senior and a member of the National Honor Society.
