Ingrid Lindblad, one of the most decorated players in college golf history, will make her final appearance as an amateur in Lancaster. Last week, the Swede capped off her career at LSU with the 2024 Annika Award presented by Stifel. She won a school record 15 times as a Tiger and has been No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for nearly a year.
Lindblad, who was exempt into the field as the 2023 Mark H. McCormack Medal winner, flew in Sunday night and said she’ll wait until Tuesday to play the course once her caddie, Sophie Gustafson arrives. Gustafson, who won five times on the LPGA, also caddied for Lindblad at Pine Needles two years ago when she opened with a 65, the lowest 18-hole score by an amateur in championship history, and ultimately tied for 11th.
“It’s kind of crazy,” said Lindblad of her five-year college career coming to and end. “It feels like I just started.”
The 24-year-old will begin play on the Epson Tour next week as a professional. She’s one of 21 amateurs in the field.
