Four Dores Earn All-American Status – Vanderbilt University Athletics – Official Athletics Website

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  The second, third, and honorable mention 2024 Division I PING All-America teams have been announced by the GCAA Wednesday, as a quartet of Vanderbilt men’s golfers were selected.

Graduate student Matthew Riedel and senior Cole Sherwood earned GCAA Division I PING second-team All-Americans, while graduate student William Moll and junior Jackson Van Paris picked up GCAA Division I PING All-American honorable mention nods. They join junior Gordon Sargent on the 2024 Division I PING All-America teams, as he was named GCAA Division I PING first-team All-American last week. This year’s five selections to the 2024 GCAA Division I PING All-America teams were the most for any team this season, while it also marked a program record for most selections in a single season.

It’s the second GCAA All-American selection for Riedel, as he earned an honorable mention selection last season. The Houston, Texas, native has had a stellar 2023-24 campaign, holding a team-best scoring average of 70.11 through 12 tournaments. The 2024 Haskins Award finalist tied for second in stroke play at the 2024 SEC Championship, as he carded 6-under 204. The All-American also posted a runner-up finish at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational and has collected seven top-10 finishes this season. In addition, Riedel has placed in the top five at four tournaments. The graduate student finished No. 4 in the PGA Tour U. rankings and will make his Korn Ferry Tour debut this week in Greer, South Carolina, at the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX.

Sherwood picked up his third career GCAA Division I PING All-America team selection, as he was named to the first team in 2022 and earned an honorable mention nod in 2023. The senior from Austin, Texas, had a spectacular final season in the black and gold, as he held a stroke average of 70.22 through 12 tournaments. The All-American won the 2023 Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational in October to claim his third career collegiate win. Sherwood has collected four top-five finishes and placed inside the top 10 seven times this season. He finished No. 7 in the PGA Tour University rankings, and will also make his Korn Ferry Tour debut this week at the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

Moll was selected to a GCAA Division I PING All-America team for the fourth time. He becomes the fourth Commodore to earn four GCAA All-American honors during their Vanderbilt career, as he joins Luke List, Patrick Martin, and John Augenstein. The…
