Five Duke Golfers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM – The ACC Office released the All-ACC Women’s Golf Team on Monday with Duke’s Phoebe Brinker, Anne Chen, Emma McMyler, Andie Smith and Katie Li earning accolades.

Brinker and Chen earned honors for the fourth straight year, while Smith was named for the second year in a row.  Both McMyler and Li were honored in their first season with the Blue Devils.

With their four selections to the squad, Brinker and Chen became just the eighth and ninth Duke golfers to accomplish that mark – Celine Boutier, Amanda Blumenherst, Alejandra Cangrejo, Virginia Elena Carta, Sandy Choi and Leona Maguire.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.

Rachel Kuehn of Wake Forest was named the ACC Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
