CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three Clemson University men’s golfers, Andrew Swanson (Bluffton, S.C./May River), Jonathan Nielsen (Copenhagen, Denmark/Birkerød Gymnasium) and Calahan Keever (Greenville, S.C./Greenville) were named to the 2024 ACC All-Academic Team.
Academic requirements for selection to the team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must have competed in 50 percent of their team’s contests and/or the ACC Championships and/or the NCAA Championships during the most recent season.
Swanson finished T-18 at the 2024 NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif. He finished with rounds of 75-75-70-70 for his 290 total. Swanson finished second on the team in stroke average (72.50) and totaled two top 10 finishes, and six rounds in the 60’s.
His finish at NCAA’s was the best since Turk Pettit won the national championship in 2021. Swanson and Pettit are the only Clemson golfers to shoot rounds of 70 or better in each of the final two rounds of the NCAA National Tournament since Lucas Glover finished with a pair of 70’s at the 2000 NCAA Tournament in Opelika, Alabama.
Keever finished his lone season at Clemson fourth in stroke average (72.90) with three top 10 finishes and six rounds in the 60’s. The highlight of Keever’s season came in the 2024 Chapel Hill Regional.
The senior finished the tournament at 10-under-par 200 for the 54 holes. His fifth-place finish was the best by a Clemson golfer at this tournament, his best in a team tournament all year and the best by a Clemson golfer in an NCAA regional since 2021 when Turk Pettit finished fourth at The Golf Club of Tennessee.
He had rounds of 65-65-70 and his 65-65 start was the best for the first 36 holes in Clemson history in an NCAA Tournament.
Nielsen led the Tigers all season in stroke average (71.05) and the senior earned six top 10 finishes and posted a team-best 15 rounds in the 60’s. He posted the team’s best individual round vs. par with an eight-under performance at the Linger Longer – shooting a 64.
