Four members of the 2023-24 Husker team earned national recognition from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) when the organization announced its annual Scholastic All-America awards on Monday, July 1.

Lindsey Thiele headlined the Nebraska award winners by capturing the fourth WGCA Scholastic All-America honor or her career. The senior from Wahoo, Neb., became the ninth four-time WGCA Scholastic All-American in school history, joining her older sister, Haley, in earning that distinction.

Nebraska leads the nation with 94 all-time WGCA Scholastic All-America honors since Ann Guiberson became the first Husker to capture the award in 1989.

Kelli Ann Strand added the second WGCA Scholastic All-America award in her two seasons at Nebraska, while Lena Hassert and Arden Louchheim captured the first honors of their careers. Louchheim posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages in each of her first two semesters at Nebraska.

In addition to the four members of the 2023-24 Nebraska women’s golf team who were honored, incoming transfers Lauren Thiele (Wichita State) and Hannah Kono (Oakland) also claimed WGCA Scholastic All-America awards at their respective schools in 2023-24.

Lauren Thiele joins her older sisters, Haley (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020), Hannah (Nebraska, 2018) and Lindsey (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) as WGCA Scholastic All-Americans.

The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of women’s golfers. To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher; be an amateur on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the team’s season; have played in 50 percent of her team’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team’s conference championship.
