Hokies announce 2024-25 men’s golf slate

Virginia TECH

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team has announced its 2024-25 schedule led by sixth-year head coach Brian Sharp. The 2024-25 campaign includes 10 regular-season tournaments, including five that are new to Tech’s schedule from last year.

Tech begins the fall once again at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate hosted by Tennessee at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn. The 54-hole event, where the Hokies placed sixth last year, will be contested Sept. 6-8. Later in the month, Tech returns to the Rod Myers Invitational hosted by Duke. The two-day event will be contested at Duke University Golf Club.

Sharp and company will be part of the exclusive Blessings Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. The unique format includes the Virginia Tech men’s and women’s golf teams playing the same course at the same time, and each school having all five members of its teams playing the same holes together. A men’s team, women’s team, combined team, men’s individual and women’s individual champion will each be crowned at the Blessings Golf Club.

Tech competes at another new event, Oct. 14-15, as High Point hosts The Qubein Cup. Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., will serve as the host course for the 54-hole event.

The Hokies’ fall slate wraps up once again in Loxley, Ala., where South Alabama will host the Steelwood Intercollegiate, Oct. 26-27, at Steelwood Country Club. Tech graduate Kobe Valociek fired an 11-under 205 to win the individual title last season.

Entering the spring portion of the schedule, the Hokies once again will compete in the Palmas del Mar Collegiate (Feb. 9-11) hosted by UNC Greensboro in Humacao, Puerto Rico.

Tech then heads to South Carolina for the Palmetto Intercollegiate (March 10-11), followed by The Hootie at Bulls Bay (March 23-25) in Awendaw, S.C.

The Hokies conclude their regular season with a pair of new events. They first will compete in the Testudo Cup, hosted by the University of Maryland, Apr. 5-6, at PB Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville, Md. The following week, Tech ventures to Bridgeport, W.Va., for the Mountaineer Invitational. West Virginia will host the 54-hole tournament, Apr. 14-15, at the Pete Dye Golf Club.

The ACC Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for Apr. 24-28 at Olde Stone Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ky. NCAA regionals are set for May 12-14, followed by the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 23-28.
