Four Blue Devils Set for Action This Week on the Course

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s golfers Anna Cañado Espinal, Rylie Heflin, Katie Li and Emma McMyler will hit the links this week in three different events in Finland, Pennsylvania and Arkansas, respectively.

Cañado will compete in the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship in Finland from July 24-27 at Messilä Golf Club.  All golfers will open play with 36 holes of stroke play and then the top 96 golfers and ties will advance to the third round.  The top 60 golfers and ties will then move on to the final round on July 27.

Coming off claiming the Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur last August, Heflin returns to the event which will take place July 22-24 at the Waynesborough Country Club in Paoli, Pennsylvania.  The field will play 54 holes of stroke play with 18 holes each day.  Last year, Heflin carded rounds of 74, 77 and 70 for a 1-under, 221, to come-from-behind to win the event.  Heflin is a native of Avondale, Pa., and a rising senior for the Blue Devils.

Li, a rising sophomore from Basking Ridge, N.J., along with McMyler, a recent Duke graduate, will compete in the Ladies National Golf Association (LNGA) 94th Amateur Championship July 23-25 at the Hot Springs Country Club Park Course in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  The golfers will play 54 holes of stroke play with 18 holes contested each day.  The 144-player field will be cut to the top-60 and ties after 36 holes.
