Five Blue Devils Named All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. – Five Duke men’s golfers have been named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for the 2023-24 season, the organization announced Thursday. Kelly Chinn, Ethan Evans, William Love, Luke Sample and Ian Siebers all earned the recognition, marking the eighth consecutive year that multiple Blue Devils have appeared on the list and making Duke one of just 25 Division I programs to have at least five honorees.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically, must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.

Evans and Love, both rising juniors, receive the honor for the first time in their Duke careers. Chinn and Sample are two-time honorees after both earned their first recognition last season, and Siebers caps off his Duke career having won the award in all three years he was eligible to do so. The five also earned Academic All-ACC honors, which was announced in June.

Sample led the team in stroke average this season at 71.78 through a total of 36 rounds, with Evans and Love close behind with stroke averages of 72.06 and 72.46, respectively. Chinn and Siebers earned their best individual finishes with a T-14 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate and a T-10 at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, respectively. The Blue Devils earned a berth to an NCAA regional for the ninth consecutive season and Evans advanced to the NCAA Championship as an individual, where he played the first three rounds of stroke play at 4-over, 220, before narrowly missing out on the fourth and final round in a playoff.
