SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah men’s golf coach Garrett Clegg announced the newest addition to his program on Friday in Stockholm, Sweden native Nils Svanberg.
“We are thrilled that Nils will be joining us in January,” said Clegg “He is an extremely talented player and will make our program better the day he steps foot on campus. He comes to us from the same school as Jesper von Reedtz, who graduated in 2023. Nils has played all over the world and competed at the very highest levels of junior and amateur golf while representing Sweden.”
Svanberg’s spent his time prior to joining the Utes piling up a long list of achievements that helped him earn a spot on the Swedish National Golf Team in 2021. His accomplishments include taking home the Swedish Junior Match Play Championship and the Swedish Under-16 Championships. He was also on the winning squad at the Swedish Golf Team Invitational and won the Order of Merit on the Swedish Junior Golf Tour. Svanberg was the winner at the GTT Finale Swedish Invitational and the Sergio Garcia Junior Championship as well. His athletic deeds also include becoming a top-ranked alpine competitor before turning his full attention to golf.
Nils is the son of Anna and Erik Svanberg and plans on majoring in Sports Management at Utah.
