DURHAM, N.C. – Five different Duke women’s golfers competed last week in three different events in Finland, Pennsylvania and Arkansas. Rising senior Rylie Heflin led all Blue Devils with a sixth-place ledger at the Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur.
Heflin, who hails from Avondale, Pa., finished strong with a 4-under-par, 69, in the final round at the Waynesborough Country Club in Paoli, Pennsylvania to finish with a 4-over, 223. It marked the second consecutive year she has finished in the top 10 as she won the event a year ago.
Both Emma McMyler and Katie Li turned in top-22 finishes at the Ladies National Golf Association (LNGA) Amateur Championship, which was held at the Hot Springs Country Club Park Course in Hot Springs, Arkansas. McMyler totaled rounds of 71, 73 and 69 for a 3-under, 213, to place tied for 11th, while Li tallied scores of 73, 71 and 72 for an even-par, 216.
In Finland at the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, Anna Cañado Espinal registered rounds of 74, 72, 73 and 73 for a 4-over, 292, to place tied for 36th. Fellow incoming freshman Carla De Troia missed the cut with scores of 79 and 75.
