Andrews Named Finalist for Jan Strickland Award

NORMAN, Okla. – For the second year in a row, Tennessee men’s golf assistant Bo Andrews has been named a finalist for the Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company.

The 2024 Strickland Award is presented annually to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or NJCAA assistant coach that, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.

New and beginning in 2024, two assistant coaches, one Division I and one non-Division I, will be named Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company recipients. Bo Andrews of Tennessee, Noah Goldman of North Carolina, and Chris Williams of Auburn are the Division I finalists. Ryan Hogan of North Georgia (NCAA Division II) and Isaiah Logue of Keiser (NAIA) are the non-Division I finalists.

In his sixth season as assistant coach in 2023-24, Andrews helped guide UT to its first top-10 NCAA Championships finish since 1981, a program-record-tying three team titles and eight top-four team finishes. Additionally, the Big Orange earned their first ever No. 1 NCAA Regional seed while boasting an overall record of 143-35-1.

Tennessee capped off its season with a No. 7 overall national ranking and saw Bryce Lewis, Jake Hall and Evan Woosley-Reed earn All-America Honorable mention selections, which marked the first time in a single season in program history for three Vols to be tabbed All-Americans.

In addition to their All-American status, the trio earned PING All-Southeast Region honors.

Lewis, Hall and Bruce Murphy were all Tennessee golfers to earn SEC Awards during Andrews’ sixth season in orange. The redshirt senior duo of Lewis and Hall took home All-SEC honors as Murphy was slated to the SEC All-Freshman team.

Andrews, along with the rest of UT’s coaching staff, played an influential part in Lewis’ electric senior campaign that ultimately ended with him being the first Vol golfer to earn PGA TOUR Americas status through PGA TOUR University.
