Troon continues to demonstrate its market dominance with the recent announcement of five new courses to come under its management auspices. The University Club of Milwaukee in Wisconsin and Woodholme Country Club in Pikesville, Maryland are two private clubs employing the services of Troon Privé, the private club division of Troon. The city of Detroit has also selected Troon to manage its three municipal golf courses: Chandler Park, Rackham, and Rouge Park Golf Courses. Indigo Sports will handle management duties for the Detroit courses.
The University Club of Milwaukee was founded in 1921 offers such amenities as casual and formal dining areas, a 25–meter outdoor pool with a diving board, swimming lanes, wading pool, outdoor bar, cabana grill, five outdoor tennis courts and two platform tennis courts, as well as groomed trails for winter activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding. The club’s 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Tom Bendelow and sits at one of the highest points in Milwaukee County.
Woodholme Country Club was founded in 1927 and features an 18-hole golf course designed by Herbert Strong that was renovated by golf course architect Ed Ault in the mid-1960s and again in the mid-70s. The course has a par of 73 and ranges from 5,503 to 7,226 yards. The course has hosted a number of high-profile events, including the Maryland State Amateur Championship, the Maryland Senior Open Championship, USGA Women’s Open qualifying, the USGA Mid-Amateur, as well as three USGA Amateur qualifiers. The property also includes a 50,000-square-foot clubhouse featuring casual dining, eight Har-Tru tennis courts, 12 new pickleball courts, and a resort-style pool with Olympic-style lanes.
Chandler Park is an 18-hole, par-71 course that originally opened in July 1929 and was renovated in 1999. It only measures 6,000 yards, which make it good for beginners and golfers aiming to enhance their skills with their irons.
Rackham is an 18-hole, par-71 course originally designed by Donald Ross that opened in 1923. It has been called one of Ross’ 10 best public courses. The property also features a clubhouse and putting and chipping greens.
