Vanderbilt Women's Golf | Tolentino Strikes Again

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Vanderbilt women’s golf sits squarely in third place heading into the final round of the Carmel Cup this weekend thanks to the play of Angelina Tolentino on Saturday. The freshman followed up her debut 1-under-par 71 with another 1-under finish to put her at 2-under-par through 36 holes and in sole possession of third place individually.

Lynn Lim notched an even-par second round to position herself just outside of the top 10 in 11th place. Charlene Chung finished 3-over with a 75. Tillie Claggett and Sara Im both carded 76 stroke rounds. Ava Merrill shot a 78.

“It was another really good day for Angelina as she continues to impress everyone,” said head coach Greg Allen. “It was nice to see Lynn step up today and Charlene came up big for us too. We saw a tough Pebble Beach on the back nine this afternoon as it played straight into the wind.”

Vanderbilt, with an 18-over team total, is two strokes behind Arkansas and six behind leader Mississippi State. The Commodores lead Texas A&M by one shot, shaping up a battle for a podium spot over the final 18 holes on Sunday.

“Tomorrow will be a fun day,” said Allen. “Our girls are excited about the opportunity.”

Vanderbilt will tee off at 9:46 a.m. CT to start the final round. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
