Simpson, Herrington Inside Top 10 After Two Rounds at Visit Knoxville Collegiate as #6 Vols Sit Third


LOUDON, Tenn. – Tennessee golfers Lance Simpson and Jackson Herrington enter the final round of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate inside the top 10 as the sixth-ranked UT is in third.

After opening the tournament with a 4-under 66, Simpson built upon his round-one momentum and fired a 2-under 68 in round two. The Knoxville native is tied for fourth and three shots back of the lead heading into the final round.

Herrington posted a 1-over 71 in round two and is 4-under overall. The Dickson, Tennessee, native is eyeing a top-10 finish for his first career tournament and is currently tied for seventh.  

The Vols improved upon their round-one score and shot 7-under on Saturday. They enter the final round at 10-under overall.

Jackson Herrington provided UT with its best showing of the day, firing a 5-under 65 to open his collegiate debut. The Dickson, Tennessee, native enters round two tied for second after his bogey-free day.

Evan Woosley-Reed gave Tennessee their best round of the day after firing a 4-under 66. The Shelbyville, Tennessee, native is inside the top-25 ahead of round three.

Bruce Murphy bounced back in round two and logged a 1-under 69 to give UT its final counting round on Saturday. The redshirt sophomore is tied for 36th going into Sunday’s round.

Pearce Lewin, who is competing individually, fired a 69 in the second round and is tied with Murphy at 2-over overall.

Josh Hill registered an even-par 70 on day two of the tournament and sits 3-over in total and tied for 42nd.

Laurent Desmarchais, who is competing as an individual, is also tied for 42nd. The senior posted a 69 in round one and 75 in round two.

Jean-Philippe Parr shot a 77 in the second round and is tied for 59th. The sophomore is also competing as an individual.

Christian Pardue logged a 75 in round two and is tied for 77th.

Kai Komulainen registered a 2-over 72 in round two and sits tied for 86th.
