Sophomore Birdies 7 Times, Ends 1 Stroke Shy Of 18-Hole Record
LAKE ELMO, Minn. – Sophomore Constance Fouillet posted the second-best round of her career Tuesday at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, carding a 5-under-par 67 to lead Cal into fifth place in the team standings heading into the final round.
Fouillet (75-67 | 142, -2) finished just one stroke shy of the program’s 18-hole record, an all-time mark she tied last September as a freshman. The Golden Bears shot 3-over 291 as a team for the second straight round.
After starting her morning off with back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3, Fouillet was absolutely scorching down the stretch. She shot 4-under over the last seven holes, bringing her birdie total for the day to seven on hole 18. Fouillet made the second-largest jump among the 60 golfers in competition, moving up 28 spots into a three-way tie for ninth place individually.
Freshman Marie-Agnes Fischer (75-73 | 148, +4) carded a 1-over 73 to move into the top 30. After a slow start, she bounced back with birdies on holes 7 and 9, eventually shooting 3-under over the final 11 holes.
Junior Adora Liu (73-74 | 147, +3) and senior Kaylyn Noh (70-77 | 147, +3) finished the day tied for 24th place. Liu closed out the front nine with the Bears’ second eagle in two days to go with two birdies. Noh ended the round strong with birdies on holes 16 and 18.
Cal (+6) heads into the last day of the tournament five strokes behind third-place Duke (+1) and three behind Oregon (+3). The Bears will tee off the final round at 6:30 a.m. PT.
