Riegger Leads Terps in Myrtle Beach


MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Sophomore Emil Riegger finished tied for 12th individually and led Maryland to a sixth-place finish at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate this weekend at the Grande Dunes Golf Resort Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Making his Maryland debut, Riegger finished with a score of 212 (73-67-72), which was -4 overall. Riegger’s 67 in the second round tied his career low set at Drake as a freshman last season. Riegger picked up 10 birdies and an eagle in the 54-hole event.

Sophomore Yang Kuang also finished in the top 20 as he tied for 19th with a score of 214 (69-74-71), which was -2. His 69 in the second round tied his career low and his 214 set a new collegiate career low.

Senior Florian Huerlimann, sophomore Manato Nakatani and freshman Will Gregware all tied for 45th individually with scores of 220, which were +4. Huerlimann improved each round, earning a 76 in the first round, a 74 in the second and 70 in the third Tuesday. In his first collegiate event, Gregware went 74-72-72 and Nakatani went 72-71-77.

As a team, the Terrapins finished sixth of 14 teams competing with a score of 859 (288-284-287), which was -5 overall.

Next, the Terps will compete in the Naval Academy Intercollegiate Sept. 21-22.
