Kanpai Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

ROSEMONT, IL — Junior Nicha Kanpai of the Maryland women’s golf team was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week for the second time in her career Thursday.

Kanpai won the individual title at the Cougar Classic earlier this week in Charleston, S.C. with her score of 206 (70-70-66) and seven strokes under par overall. Her 66 in the third round tied her career low. She made eight birdies in Tuesday’s final round to go -5. 

Kanpai is averaging 72.46 over her three years as a Terp. She was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week earlier this year on Feb. 28. 

Earlier Thursday, Kanpai and teammates Panassaya Somchit and Chananyu Chowiwattana were named to the Big Ten Golfers to Watch List.
