Terps Trio Named to Big Ten Watch List


ROSEMONT, IL — A trio of Maryland men’s golfers were named to the Big Ten Golfers to Watch List Thursday. Senior Florida Huerlimann and sophomores Yang Kuang and Emil Riegger were named to the list.

Huerlimann has competed in 27 events over his four years at Maryland, averaging 74.82 in his career. Last year, he was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week on March 7 after finishing in the top 10 of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto event. He also earned PING All-Region and Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Kuang competed in nine events as a rookie last year. He led the team with his score average of 73.81. Earlier this week, Kuang finished in the top 20 at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate. He tied his career-low 69 in the first round and set a career low 214 54-hole score.

Riegger, who transferred to Maryland after competing in one season at Drake, led the Terps at the Myrtle Beach event with his score of 212. He tied his career-low 67 in the second round and tied for 12th.

Next, Maryland will compete in the Naval Academy Intercollegiate Sept. 21-22 in Annapolis, Md.
