USC Women’s Golf Opens Up the 2024-25 Season in Washington

LOS ANGELES – USC women’s golf opens their season in familiar territory as it takes on the Leadership and Golf Invitational as the defending champions of the event. The Trojans come in with a fresh new lineup to take on the 16-team tournament starting Monday, Sept. 16 through Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Chambers Bay G.C. in University Place, Washington. 

USC returns to this event, as it won it last year by the third largest margin in program history, 31 strokes. The Women of Troy were led in that event by Amari Avery, with junior Catherine Park finishing tied for second with now-alumna Brianna Navarrosa at seven-under par. 

COMPETITIVE SLATE: Long Beach State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Gonzaga, Eastern Michigan, San Diego State, USC, Wyoming, Colorado, UC Davis, *Seattle, Cal Poly, GCU, *Washington, Fresno State, Oregon State

WHERE: Chambers Bay G.C. (Par 72, 6,093 yards).

WHEN: The two-day event will begin Monday, Sept. 16, at 8:00 a.m. PT, with the second round following the conclusion of the first. The third round will be played on Tuesday, Sept. 17, starting at 8:00 a.m.

Catherine Park

Park comes into the season with a long list of accolades already as an ANNIKA Fall Watch List and a Preseason First Team All-American (Golfweek/Golf Channel) Recipient. The junior posted a historic 2023-24 for the Women of Troy, as she was an ANNIKA Award Finalist and a WGCA/Golfweek First Team All-American. Park heads into her junior year with multiple team records: single-season stroke average (70.94) and rounds at par or better (23).

Bailey Shoemaker

Shoemaker will play a pivotal role in the success of USC’s squad, just as she did last season. She made her debut on the ANNIKA Fall Watch List and was selected as a Preseason Second Team All-American (Golfweek/Golf Channel). The sophomore helped lead the Women of Troy to the Final Four after making the final putt to beat Clemson in the Quarterfinals. Shoemaker’s freshman year was highlighted by a second-place finish at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Shoemaker posted a bogey-free 66 in…
