Cougars Continue Fall Schedule at Canadian Collegiate Invitational


PULLMAN, Wash. (Sept. 15, 2024) – The Washington State men’s golf team continues its fall season by heading to Toronto, Canada for the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, Sept. 16-17, co-hosted by Kent State and Penn State. The event marks the second of five fall tournaments for the Cougars in 2024.
 
The Course and Tournament Format
The 2024 Canadian Collegiate Invitational will be held at Oviinbyrd Golf Club in Foots Bay, Ontario, Canada. The course will play as a par-72 at 7,157 yards.
 
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 16 followed by a final 18 holes Tuesday.
 
The inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational marks the first time that an NCAA Division I men’s golf tournament will be played in Canada. The tournament will be conducted by Golf Canada and co-hosted by Penn State and Kent State, who are both led by Canadian head coaches in Penn State’s Mark Leon and Kent State’s Jon Mills. The tournament will feature NCAA Division I men’s golf teams with prominent Canadian ties along with the team champions of the 2024 Canadian University/College Championship. The individual competition will be stroke-play with the winner receiving an exemption into the 2025 RBC Canadian Open and the top-five receiving exemptions into the 2025 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO.

The Field
In additional to Washington State, other teams competing include co-hosts Kent State and Penn State, along with Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Rutgers and the University of British Columbia.

Last Time Out
WSU opened its fall season last week by hosting the Palouse Collegiate, where it finished fourth. The Cougars ended the 54-hole event at 16-under par, led by junior Sam Renner, who was 12th individually at 8-under, 205.
