OLYMPIA FIELDS – Round one of the Fighting Illini Invitational has concluded and the Sun Devils are atop the leaderboard once more.
Sitting at 7-under, the team is six strokes ahead of Georgia Tech, Florida, and North Carolina who are tied for second. With a bogey free round, Josele Ballester is tied for first at 6-under with Georgia Tech’s Benjamin Reuter. A little farther down the leaderboard, Peer Wernicke and Connor Williams are tied for eleventh at 1-under.
ASU currently has the lowest scoring average on the par 4 holes and the second most birdies of the tournament at 16. As an individual, Josele Ballester has the lowest scoring average on the par 4’s as well as the most birdies at six.
Round two tee times start at 9:30 a.m. CST. for the Sun Devils tomorrow morning and the tournament will try and get 36 holes in with storms approaching Sunday.
