CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — The Maryland women’s golf team wrapped up in the Cavalier Regional Preview Tuesday at the Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville. The Terrapins tied for fifth out of 12 teams competing.
Junior Nicha Kanpai led Maryland with her score of 216 (70-70-76), which was +3 overall. She tied for 13th in the individual standings.
Freshman Anna Pillard tied for 30th in her first collegiate event with a score of 224 (74-72-78), which was +11. Senior Panassaya Somchit tied for 36th with a score of 226 (79-72-75). Competing as an individual, junior Daniela Burgos Ortega finished in 38th with a score of 227 (81-69-77). Her 69 in the second round set a new career-low.
Freshman Chananyu Chowiwattana tied for 43rd with a score of 230 (71-79-80) and junior Tammy Wu tied for 45th with a score of 231 (79-73-79).
As a team, Maryland earned a score of 889 (294-287-308).
Next, Maryland will compete in the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah in Medinah, Ill. Oct. 7-8.
