Women's Golf Finishes Second at Johnie Imes


The University of Missouri Women’s golf team wrapped up play in the Johnie Imes Invitational Tuesday, finishing second of 13 schools.

Sophomore Fleur van Beek posted a two-under 70 to finish second with a score of 143 over the 36-hole tournament. After an even-par first nine holes, van Beek recorded four birdies in just seven holes during the second nine, finishing with five birdies and three bogeys on the day. This marks her second-straight top-10 finish and the third of her career, as well as her second career top-five finish.

Senior Ffion Tynan carded a one-under 71, highlighted by three birdies on the front nine, to finish fifth with a score of 146 after climbing 15 spots in the final 18. This marks the first top-five finish of her career and her second top-10.

Junior Melanie Walker finished 25th after carding a six-over 78 to finish with a final score of 151 (73-78). Freshman Alexandra Berglund and Junior Addie Dobson each finished in 29th with a matching final score of 152 (78-74).

Missouri placed second after two rounds with a final score of 590, improving its place by two spots during the second round. Florida Gulf Coast finished first as a team after two days of play.

The Tigers return to action at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday, September 30 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
