CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Illinois women’s golf finished the Cavalier Regional Preview tied for eighth with a 54-hole team total of 892 (+40), following a third round 296 (+12).
Victoria Zheng recorded her second-straight top 20 finish, ending the tournament in 19th after a third round 74 (+3). Zheng’s 40 total pars during the two-day event were tied for the most among the field.
Yurang Li finished tied for 22nd, also posting a final round 74 (+3). Li tallied a team-high eight birdies over three rounds of play.
Brielle Mapanao ended the tournament tied for 39th after her third round 79 (+8).
Lexanne Halama moved 11 spots up the leaderboard to place tied for 43rd with her third round of 75 (+4) and Anna Ritter finished tied for 50 following her final round of 73 (+2).
North Carolina took home the team title at 22-under (830), with the Tar Heel’s Inez Ng earning individual medalist honors at 12-under (201).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 30, when they begin play at the Windy City Classic, hosted by Northwestern, at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill.
